RePowerSiC engages in strategic dialogue at the 3rd EIC Space Portfolio Annual Meeting

On July 3–4, 2025, the RePowerSiC project participated in the 3rd Annual EIC Space Portfolio Meeting, hosted in Brussels at the EISMEA premises. The event brought together EIC-funded projects from the Pathfinder, Transition, and Accelerator programs with the goal of promoting collaboration and identifying synergies within the European space innovation ecosystem.

Held in a hybrid format, the meeting on July 3rd featured a full-day agenda centered around three strategic pillars: Space Debris Sustainability, Enabling Space Technologies, and Earth Observation and Meteorology.

RePowerSiC contributed to discussions under Pillar 2: Enabling Space Technologies, as part of the In Space Solar Energy Harvesting (ISSEH) Portfolio, alongside fellow projects E.T. Compact, Ice2Thrust, GreenSWaP, and Jump Into Space. These presentations highlighted technical developments, research progress, and opportunities for cooperation in the development of future in-space energy solutions. The session was introduced and moderated by Stella Tkatchova, EIC Programme Manager for Space Systems & Technologies, who emphasized the strategic importance of aligning technological innovation with long-term goals for European space autonomy and sustainability.

The session also included contributions from relevant Accelerator projects, emphasizing the continuum from early research to market-ready technologies. The meeting concluded with forward-looking sessions on global market opportunities, lessons learned from ongoing projects, and an overview of the 2025 Accelerator Challenge related to in-space servicing and infrastructure resilience.

Strategic Planning Towards a Unified Portfolio Vision

On July 4th, a focused working session followed the main event to further develop the Portfolio Strategic Plan for the In-Space Solar Energy Harvesting Portfolio initiative. Participants collaborated to review and refine the proposed template for the document, aiming to ensure it effectively captures strategic alignment, use case prioritization and realization timelines, state-of-the-art definitions, and synergy and collaboration planning.

The discussion covered key components such as the portfolio overview, strategic objectives mapping, risk assessment, and roadmap development, with the goal of shaping a clear and actionable framework for the common document, which is expected to be published by the end of September.

Building on her earlier remarks during the main meeting, the Programme Manager Stella Tkatchova emphasized the importance of establishing a common format that supports consistent communication across the various working groups and projects involved. All contributors are encouraged to actively integrate their specific use cases, challenges, opportunities, strengths, and risks into the shared framework to help drive the finalization of the strategic plan.

RePowerSiC remains an active contributor to this collective effort, reinforcing its commitment to shaping the future of sustainable energy solutions for space through strong collaboration and strategic alignment.
