RePowerSiC at the Industry Day of Maker Faire Galicia 2025

On 31 October, RePowerSiC joined the new edition of the Industry Day of the Maker Faire Galicia, an event dedicated to innovation and collaboration within the industrial sector.

Held at the Casa das Máquinas in Santiago de Compostela, the Industry Day served as a meeting point to reflect on the future of Galician industry through innovation, science, and sustainability.

Organized with the support of the City Council of Santiago (CERSIA Empresa), the Xunta de Galicia through IGAPE (Instituto Galego de Promoción Económica), and with the collaboration of Servicio Móvil and Clúster TIC Galicia, the event brought together professionals, companies, startups, and research centres that are driving a more sustainable and human-centred industrial model.

Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to explore inspiring projects transforming key sectors in Galicia and beyond. Almost 100 people attended the event, which featured a series of maker pitches showcasing projects such as RePowerSiC, REMOVIRT H3D, Luxsit, Smartlights, BIXO, Greeneat, and many more!

RePowerSiC (CiTIUS – University of Santiago de Compostela) took the floor to present its innovative work on sustainable and efficient energy transmission technologies for space applications, reinforcing the project’s mission within Horizon Europe to advance clean and high-performance power systems. Considerable interest was shown in the potential terrestrial applications of the technology, and several questions focused on how much of it is developed within the EU and whether the project relies on non-European countries for critical components.

The programme also included networking sessions, project pitches, and presentations from emerging Galician talent, fostering collaboration and the exchange of knowledge within the region’s innovation ecosystem. Highlights included presentations from:

  • Teimas – sustainable digitalization of waste

  • Magallanes Renovables – harnessing sea energy with the ATIR 2.0 turbine

  • ForestED – forestry innovation using native woods

  • Carmen García – Health

  • Manuel Rico – neuroscience and neuromodulation
