Deeptech Experts to Discuss “Machine Learning Before Machine Learning”

On 23 June, the rePowerSiC project, hosted by Alminica, will hold the webinar “Machine Learning in Deeptech: Machine Learning Before Machine Learning”, bringing together researchers and innovators to discuss how deeptech projects can prepare for future AI and machine learning integration at the earliest stages of development.

Machine learning depends on data. However, many deeptech and EIC Pathfinder projects are still in early-stage process development, where datasets are limited, experiments are few, and technologies are evolving rapidly. The webinar will explore how projects can already begin creating strategic value through data-oriented thinking before large-scale machine learning implementation becomes possible.

The session will focus on the broader role of machine learning across the value chain, beyond optimisation of individual process steps. Discussions will examine how early-stage projects can prepare for future needs related to:

  • predictive maintenance,

  • manufacturing intelligence,

  • traceability,

  • sustainability positioning,

  • and long-term exploitation strategies.

The webinar will also present experiences from rePowerSiC’s CS-PVT pilot activities, where machine learning perspectives are being considered alongside the development of silicon carbide epiwafer technologies for high-power laser conversion applications.

The programme includes a short introductory section for participants less familiar with machine learning concepts, followed by discussion and exchange around data-driven value creation in deeptech projects.

The webinar aims to encourage dialogue across projects facing similar challenges in digital transition, AI readiness, and strategic data generation.
